Fundamental structural changes are in flight, and hitting hard.
For more than two decades I have worked with senior professionals at the top of their fields. Capable people. Accomplished people. People who built careers on expertise, judgement, and the ability to navigate complex organisations. Most of them succeeded.
Something is different now.
Over the past eighteen months I have been engaged in some of the most intensive research and thinking of my career. Not commissioned work. Personal work. A deliberate effort to understand what is actually happening in the world, and what it means for the senior professionals I work with and care about.
What I have been tracking spans geopolitics, technology and AI, macroeconomics, societal shifts, and the weaponisation of narrative. These are not separate trends. They are converging forces, moving simultaneously, and together they are producing something qualitatively different from anything most senior professionals have navigated before or are equipped to deal with.
It is frightening, if I am honest. And it is also fascinating. The pace of change, the depth of disruption, and the clarity of what is now possible for those who understand it early enough, all of that is genuinely extraordinary to witness. Underestimating these demands is a serious mistake. It is also a mistake to underestimate the potential of those who adapt.
A full macro thesis is taking shape in my thinking and will be published here in due course. In the meantime, the implications for senior experts and executives are already clear, already in motion, and already hitting hard. I have written about this dimension in detail.

What success requires now
To survive and thrive in this new world, senior professionals need to operate at the intersection of three capabilities that very few currently possess in combination.
Domain Mastery – complete command of deliberately chosen terrains that AI cannot replicate and expertise alone cannot reach.
Astute Judgement – the capability to read a complex situation accurately enough to determine the right response, at the right moment, with a clear understanding of the implications.
Political Dexterity – the ability to read the systems, interests, and power dynamics at play, and to carry domain mastery and astute judgement into consequence within them.
The framework:
These three capabilities equip the senior professional to navigate what I have come to call the Galileo Dilemma: the structural condition that arises when a trigger is radical enough to threaten a system’s identity, purpose, or values. Understanding it is no longer optional.
Go deeper:
The personal orientation that underpins all of it, the foundation without which the rest becomes fragile, is Radical Conformity.
The foundation:
The purpose of my work
Everything published here, and everything I do privately, exists to support senior professionals who are awake to what is changing and determined to respond before the window closes.
This is not for everyone. The transition is demanding. It requires genuine commitment to repositioning, not surface adjustment.
